THE FAMILY OF
NARAYAN KHADKA
Organized by: Mary
Ng
May 1st (Narayan-approved) update: From
the 200 people who were staying at the church, there are now only 50-70 as
people are now able to go to the villages to check on their loved ones. Narayan
is searching for a room in the church in KTM for his parents to stay.
They are still in the village. Tomorrow, Narayan, his brother
and their other aunt will be visiting the village with food, tent, and clothes.
His aunt, who was airlifted, is still under treatment.
I was able to chat with him on the phone for
a little bit earlier today and it was great hearing the voice of an old friend
that I haven't heard in 2 years. I can sense his uplifted spirit and the
joy in his voice. Morale has been much higher for Narayan and his family
because of the love, thoughtfulness, and compassion from donors and
well-wishers like you.
Apr 29th Summary: Narayan has given me
permission to share his story. Narayan, his wife, and his daughter are
currently staying at a church in open ground among 200 other Nepali. It is
difficult finding decent shelter since many buildings have collapsed or on the
verge of collapsing. His parents are far away in the village (63 miles or
100km), sleeping under tin sheets since their house has crumbled.
Narayan is unable to see them as the roads are currently inaccessible.
There has been a funeral service for his grandmother, a victim of the
earthquake. His aunt has been airlifted to the nearest hospital to be
treated.
400 people have been killed in the Dhading
district that he resides in. There are 7-8 district and all houses made
of stone and mud have collapsed. Unfortunately, that means 95% of the
houses in that region have been destroyed because they were all made of
stone and mud.
Narayan reported feeling 100 aftershocks and
they are still coming. I mentioned purchasing a tent at least to protect from
the rain for now, but the shops are all closed and will hopefully open in a few
days. They have enough food at the moment, but there is an issue
of accessing fresh, clean water and sanitation issues due to the open
ground and the destruction. As soon as I reach the $500 mark, I will send the
first donation. I am trying to give bigger lump some donations instead of
frequent small money transfers due to the Western Union fees.
Apr 28th: Narayan never asked for
monetary donations and just prayers, but I just cannot sit back anymore
and not try to help our beloved friend who has lost his home and grandmother in
the 2015 deadly earthquake in Nepal.
The fundraising goal might change as I find
out more info from Narayan on how much is needed. 100% that is fundraised will
be given directly to Narayan.
From Narayan Khadka

ACTS 4:32 "All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their
possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the
apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was
so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them.
For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money
from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to
anyone who had need." 12 months ago
